Chasing Titans is an alternative metalcore band hailing from Auckland, New Zealand. Formed in 2018, this three-piece group made up of Adrian Govender (guitar/vocals), Sylvester Porizakova (bass/vocals), and Torrance Kam (drums/backing vocals) has been making waves in the local and international scene with their distinct and powerful amalgamation of metalcore, infused with elements of hip hop and electronica, coupled with emotionally charged and poignant lyrics.
The band released their self-titled debut EP in December 2022, which was met with overwhelmingly positive local and international reception. New Zealand music critic Kev Roland (music.net.nz) said, “This certainly doesn’t sound like a debut, as these guys are polished, tight, and heavy,” while US label Moosic Entertainment called it “a requirement for you to put it in your playlist!” All three singles from the EP, "Cabin Fever," "Vengeance," and “New Depravity,” have charted and been featured on radio and media in the US, UK, Canada, France, Australia, and Mexico, with "Cabin Fever" achieving a peak position of number 3 on the Top 10 list on Valley FM 89.5 (Australia), garnering further acclaim for the band.
The rapid success of their EP on an international level propelled them to secure a remarkable deal with European metal label, Sliptrick Records, in June 2023. In February 2024 the band proudly announced their forthcoming debut album, Infinite Paradox, will be released via Sliptrick Records and the Dead Pulse record store on March 26th, 2024.
Even though it has just been released, "Infinite Paradox" has also been met with very positive reception and critique. Germany’s Iron Backstage Magazine stated, “The band's tight instrumentation and cohesive sound demonstrate a level of musical maturity that is rare in debut albums, showcasing Chasing Titans as a force to be reckoned with in the metalcore scene.” while New Zealand's Muzic NZ said, “This album becomes a story of evolution in the band's sound and presence.”
During June and July 2023, Chasing Titans also embarked on their highly successful North Island EP and Three Stages Of Hell tours, showcasing their music in a series of exclusive shows held in Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, and New Plymouth. The footage that was used in the music video for "Vengeance" was also filmed during these shows.
The next year they headlined the Scorched Earth 2024 Metal Festival that took place in Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga and New Plymouth just before the release of Infinite Paradox.
Drawing inspiration from artists such as Bring Me the Horizon, Asking Alexandria, Rage Against the Machine, A Day to Remember, and Trivium, Chasing Titans has created a sound that is uniquely their own. Their official music videos for “Cabin Fever”, "Vengeance" and “New Depravity” were released in 2023, with the video for Infinite Paradox's "Falling Down" having just been released in April 2024.
